OBITUARY - Crystal Lake Herald, September 11, 1902 -- Mrs. Mary Schmidt died Monday, Sept. 8, 1902, in Nunda. She was aged 72 years, and the cause of her death was old age. She was making her home at the time of her death with her daughter, Mrs. Carl Burman. She was a devoted mother and an upright woman. Her husband preceded her to the better land, but she leaves three sons and one daughter; Fred of Nunda, William of Genoa, John in Germany and Mrs. Burman of Nunda. Mrs. Zorno of Elgin is a sister. The funeral was held today from the German Lutheran church.

Maiden name appears on daughter's (Friederika) marriage license as Marie Caroline Durkop.

child iv. Friederika Caroline Augusta SCHMIDT was born on 26 Jul 1859 in Klevenow, Pomerania, Germany. She died on 22 Apr 1935 in Dundee, Kane, Illinois. Death Index, certificate # 0017405.

Friederika Burman, nee Schmidt, died April 22 at Dundee at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 26 days. She had been ill for several months.   She was born July 26, 1859 in Germany, a daughter of Gustav Schmidt and Marie nee Duerkop. She married April 5, 1883 to Carl J. Burman who died in 1925. Two sons, Fred of Crystal Lake, and Charles of Dundee and three daughters, Mrs. Henry Wienke, Mrs. Emil Cook and Mrs. Minnie Kobernus survive besides a number of other relatives and many friends.   She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held April 25 at the home at Dundee with Rev. E. Sylvester officiating. The body was brought to Union cemetery for burial with Rev. G. A. Gehrs in charge.   She was buried on 25 Apr 1935 in Crystal Lake, McHenry, Illinois. Union Cemetary Came to USA 1873. Member of Immanuel Lutheran Church
